RASC News Agency: According to sources in Ghazni province, the Taliban group has sentenced 20 young individuals to three years in prison following arbitrary arrests and trials. These individuals were apprehended by the Taliban nearly three months ago and were recently convicted by their court in the same province. The court’s decision was made public on Saturday, December 23rd.
The sources further disclosed that all individuals receiving prison sentences are students. The Taliban in Ghazni province has not issued an official statement regarding this incident. It is crucial to note that the Taliban has banned the activities of Hizb ut-Tahrir, Jamiat Islah, and the Muslim Youth Organization in the country. Previously, members of the Taliban arrested several individuals in Badakhshan province for their affiliation with Hizb ut-Tahrir, and it is believed that they are all students.
It is disconcerting that the Taliban has been arresting and imprisoning citizens, particularly young individuals, on various charges since assuming control of the country. What is even more alarming is their lack of accountability to any institution for their actions towards citizens. This absence of accountability raises serious concerns about the human rights situation under Taliban rule.
Citizen allegations suggest the involvement of Taliban members in criminal activities. However, it is noteworthy that the group’s judicial courts refrain from applying any form of pressure or imposing sentences on their own members.
