RASC News Agency: In the wake of escalating criminal activities, particularly marked by mysterious targeted killings and armed robberies across diverse provinces, sources from Balkh province have recently brought to light the murder of a young man by thieves. These sources disclosed on Saturday, December 23rd, that the incident transpired last night in the seventh district of Mazar-i-Sharif, the central city of Balkh province. According to the sources, the victim was identified as Samiullah, and he succumbed to fatal stab wounds inflicted by the assailants.

Meanwhile, the veracity of this incident has been corroborated by the authorities of the Taliban group overseeing security in Balkh province, who additionally stated that the thieves sought to pilfer Samiullah’s vehicle but were thwarted in their attempt. Local Taliban officials in Balkh province have affirmed that their forces have apprehended an individual in connection to this incident. This occurrence unfolds at a juncture when, subsequent to the Taliban’s assumption of control over the country, the incidence of armed robberies has witnessed a substantial surge across various provinces. In a recent episode in Nangarhar province, armed robbers not only claimed one life but also inflicted injury upon the victim’s brother, absconding with their possessions.

Concurrently, beyond this, the prevalence of other criminal activities, encompassing mysterious targeted killings, has experienced an unprecedented upswing in various provinces of the country. According to available information, the perpetrators of these acts have managed to evade capture. Reports indicate that, in the aftermath of the Taliban’s takeover of the country, the confluence of heightened poverty, unemployment among citizens, and the dearth of employment opportunities has driven individuals to resort to such actions, including armed robberies.
