RASC News Agency: Pakistan’s counter-terrorism department recently disclosed that two individuals responsible for the suicide attack on a Pakistani army base in Dera Ismail Khan were Afghanistani citizens. On December 21st, the Pakistani administration addressed this issue, revealing that the Pakistani army has apprehended nine individuals, including six Afghanistani citizens, for their alleged involvement in “facilitating” the attack.
Documents provided to the Pakistani media by Pakistan’s Counter-Terrorism Department identify the “main agent and designer” of the attack as originating from the Daraban area of Dera Ismail Khan, while the remaining six “terrorists” are said to be from Afghanistan. The Counter-Terrorism Department’s documents also indicate that the suicide attack was executed by an individual named Hassan, also known as Shaker, from Afghanistan, who recorded a video discussing his intentions prior to the attack.
Furthermore, the department has disclosed that the identity card and place of residence of another suicide bomber, Sefatullah Morowat, killed in the attack, confirm that he “belongs to a neighboring country.” Sefatullah Morowat’s father has confirmed his son’s association with the Taliban group. The Counter-Terrorism Department stated that five of the detainees are members of Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan, and during their arrest, American-made weapons and ammunition were discovered.
It is crucial to note that the Pakistan Tehreek Jihad group has claimed responsibility for this attack. On December 12th, a group of six suicide bombers targeted a Pakistani army base in the Dera Ismail Khan area of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province, resulting in the deaths of 23 soldiers and numerous injuries.
