RASC News Agency: One year after imposing educational restrictions on girls, the Taliban group persists in denying Afghanistani girls access to universities. On the anniversary of the Taliban group’s decree on Wednesday, December 20th, the explicit prohibition of girls attending university was reiterated. Tom West, the Special Representative of the United States on Afghanistani Affairs, commented on the one-year ban on girls’ education, condemning it as an indefensible act.

On Wednesday night, December 20th, on the X social network, West emphasized that all Afghanistani he has spoken to recognize the imperative for Afghanistan to cultivate a generation of doctors, engineers, business leaders, and female educators to independently progress and flourish. This occurs as the Taliban faction’s governance in Afghanistan has endured for two years and several months, during which the group has issued over 80 directives targeting women and girls in the country. Among the directives issued by the Taliban group, the explicit prohibition of girls’ education in universities and the sustained restriction on educating girls beyond the sixth grade in schools are highlighted.

It is noteworthy that these two Taliban group’s directives have sparked significant reactions both domestically and internationally, yet the group has shown no regard for the demands of the people. It should be emphasized that many women and girls in Afghanistan have turned to demonstrations in response to the heightened restrictions, but the Taliban group has consistently subjected these women to detention, torture, imprisonment, and, in some instances, death.
