Taliban Interior Minister’s Cousin Shuts Down a Travel Company in Khost

RASC News Agency: Local sources in Khost confirm that Haji Bahram Musa, a Taliban official overseeing Khost airport and the cousin of Sirajuddin Haqqani, the Taliban’s Interior Minister, has forcibly shut down a travel company in the province, seizing the private vehicle of its director. Sources reported on Wednesday, September 25, that Musa also detained another employee of the “Al-Khaleej Travel Company.”

According to these sources, the company is not accused of corruption or embezzlement. Instead, the closure was carried out as part of an alleged “extortion” scheme by the Taliban official. Although the company’s director appealed for assistance from Abdul Rashid Omari, the Taliban police chief in Khost, and Khalil Rahman Haqqani, the Taliban’s Minister of Refugees and Repatriation, no actions have been taken to address the issue so far.

It is notable that a few years ago, Musa remarried for a second time, spending 2.2 million kabuli rupees on the wedding. At that time, he used a helicopter to transport his new wife from Logar to Khost. Such incidents are not isolated, as other Taliban officials have also been accused of extorting money from investors across the country. These actions demonstrate the insecurity faced by citizens under the Taliban regime, as individuals’ wealth and safety can be threatened at any moment. For the past three years, the Taliban has governed the country without any formal legal framework, causing severe financial and human harm to the Afghanistani population.
