RASC News Agency: In the Sheghnan district of Badakhshan province, local sources report a traffic incident on Wednesday, December 20th, resulting in the fatalities and injuries of 11 individuals. Transpiring in the village of Weer, the accident ensued when a Flankuch-type car deviated from the road, leading to the untimely demise of a 17-year-old girl and inflicting injuries upon 10 others. The Taliban group in Badakhshan province acknowledged the incident, affirming that the car’s occupants were en route to a wedding ceremony when the mishap unfolded. Swiftly, the injured parties were transported to a health center in the Sheghnan district for urgent medical attention.
Despite the recurrence of traffic incidents nationwide, resulting in loss of life, injuries, and disabilities, this recent occurrence underscores the persistent challenges in ensuring road safety. In a separate incident in Nimroz province, four individuals lost their lives, and 28 others sustained injuries in a collision between a 404 car and an international vehicle affiliated with the Taliban group. Often attributed to driver negligence, non-compliance with traffic regulations, excessive speeding, navigational difficulties, and unfamiliarity with specific routes, the causes of these incidents persist. Moreover, the absence of standardized roads and insufficient attention from officials to fostering secure highways contribute to the prevalence of traffic incidents in the country.
Addressing these underlying issues and prioritizing road safety measures is imperative. Advocating awareness about the significance of adhering to traffic rules, enforcing stringent regulations, and enhancing road infrastructure are pivotal steps in mitigating the frequency and severity of such incidents. Collaboration between drivers and authorities is essential to ensuring the safety of all road users, averting further loss of life and injuries on the nation’s highways.
