RASC News Agency: Two distinct incidents of targeted murders have been reported in the provinces of Herat and Takhar, contributing to the mounting tally of enigmatic killings across the nation. According to local sources, on Tuesday, December 19th, a 22-year-old named Abdul Matin fell victim to gun violence in Taleqan city, the hub of Takhar province. The Taliban group in Takhar province acknowledged the apprehension of two individuals linked to Abdul Matin’s murder. Similarly, in Herat province, a 25-year-old man met a mysterious end on Tuesday, December 19th, in the “Ghibtan” area of Injil district. The motives underpinning these homicides remain elusive, and the Taliban group has refrained from issuing any statements regarding these incidents.

Despite the escalating trajectory of targeted killings in diverse provinces, the precise motivations behind the murders in Takhar and Herat provinces are yet to be ascertained. The recent occurrence in Balkh province underscores the gravity of the situation, with three additional lives lost to violence. Authorities are diligently probing these cases to unveil the motives and apprehend the perpetrators. Local communities find themselves gripped by shock and uncertainty, yearning for answers and an end to these events.

The reports cast a revealing light on a reality that starkly contrasts with the assertions made by the Taliban group regarding the reduction in criminal activities since assuming control of the country. Instead, the reports accentuate a recurring pattern of cryptic and targeted murders, alongside incidents of armed robberies, unfolding in various provinces. These occurrences frequently prompt suspicions of Taliban involvement, with allegations that they mask these killings as mysterious murders or attribute them to unknown individuals.
