RASC News Agency: Officials from the Taliban’s Ministry of Martyrs and Disabled Individuals have recently disclosed that more than a thousand individuals, facing disability, orphanhood, or widowhood, associated with the military of the former government, have been officially registered within their ministry. Drawing upon video footage featuring statements by Faisal Khamosh, the spokesperson for the Taliban’s Ministry of Martyrs and Disabled Individuals, circulated on social media this Sunday, December 17th, it is reported that this ministry has documented 120,378 disabled, orphaned, and widowed individuals with ties to the military personnel of the previous Afghanistan government.

As per this official statement from the Taliban, those enrolled in the Ministry of Martyrs and Disabled Individuals are recipients of monthly financial assistance. This development transpires amid two decades of conflict between the Taliban and the former Afghanistan government, resulting in the loss of lives and disabilities for numerous civilians and officers, rendering many women and children as widows and orphans. It is of significance to note that following the Taliban’s assumption of control over the country, retaliatory measures were taken against the military personnel of the former government, with ongoing reports detailing their detention, imprisonment, torture, and, in some instances, the killing of these individuals.

Earlier reports from the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) highlighted that due to the stringent restrictions imposed by the Taliban, many widowed women are unable to access humanitarian aid. It is noteworthy that subsequent to their takeover, the Taliban prohibited women from engaging in work and activities within government and foreign institutions, allowing only limited involvement in the health sector, albeit under constraints imposed by the group.
