RASC News Agency: Neda Mohammad Nadeem, the Minister of Higher Education under the Taliban in Kunar Province, recently proclaimed that Afghanistan adheres to a singular religious doctrine, specifically the Hanafi school of thought. Ziaullah Hashemi, the spokesperson for the Taliban’s Ministry of Higher Education, released excerpts from Mr. Nadeem’s address delivered at Said Jamaluddin Afghanistan University on Sunday, December 17th. Mr. Nadeem, in the midst of his discourse, asserted that Afghanistan’s success is predicated on the existence of only one religious doctrine, namely the Hanafi school of thought of Imam Abu Hanifa.

The Minister of Higher Education for the Taliban further contended that the presence of political parties and groups is the root cause of Afghanistan’s misfortune, advocating for their eradication. It is noteworthy that Mr. Nadeem made these assertions while a significant portion of Afghanistan’s citizens adheres to the Shia denomination. It is worth mentioning that previously, followers of the Shia faith in Afghanistan condemned the Taliban for violating the rights of the Shia community, emphasizing that the group lacks respect for the Shia religion. Months ago, the Asian Forum for Human Rights and Development stated that the Taliban group has curtailed the religious freedom and beliefs of Shias and Hazaras. This underscores the notion that the group’s actions contradict their claims of respecting the Shia religion.

Despite the Taliban group’s repeated affirmations of their respect for the Shia religion, their treatment of Shia followers suggests otherwise. It is evident that the group acknowledges and accepts only the Hanafi school of thought, disregarding the rights and beliefs of the Shia community.
