RASC: The World Health Organization announced on July 31 that polio cases have decreased in Afghanistan and Pakistan.

The officials of this organization have said that they are eliminating this virus

According to them, five cases of polio have been reported in Afghanistan and only one in Pakistan this year.

“Pakistan and Afghanistan have never been so close to the goal of eradicating the wild polio virus,” said Hamed Jafari, head of the polio eradication division for the Eastern Mediterranean at the World Health Organization.

Mr. Jafari also emphasized that: “full political, administrative and security support must exist so that we can finally eradicate polio from the world.”

World Health Organization data shows that polio has been registered in Nangarhar and Kunar provinces of Afghanistan.

This organization said that coordination between Pakistan and Afghanistan is an important and vital thing to completely eliminate this virus.

Mr. Jafari added that border coordination between Afghanistan and Pakistan is important during 2023 to prevent the spread of poliovirus on both sides of the border.

It should be mentioned that in the last seven months, five cases of polio have been registered in Afghanistan, and according to the statistics of the World Health Organization, only one case has been registered in Pakistan this year.

The World Health Organization has asked people to vaccinate their children to prevent this annoying disease.

Polio is a disease that affects children and is incurable, but it can be prevented by vaccination.
