RASC News Agency: The US Treasury Department has recently imposed sanctions on two individuals affiliated with the Taliban group, namely Mohammad Khaled Hanafi and Fariduddin Mahmood. According to reports, Fariduddin Mahmood, who serves as the head of the Taliban’s Academy of Sciences, played a significant role in implementing the ban on girls’ education beyond the sixth grade. He is considered one of the key architects and supporters of this restrictive measure.
On the other hand, Khaled Hanafi, the Minister of Propagation of Virtue and the Prevention of Vice within the Taliban group, has been accused of committing severe human rights violations. Under his leadership, members of the Department of Propagation of Virtue and the Prevention of Vice have reportedly assaulted individuals protesting against the limitations imposed on women’s rights and activities.
These sanctions are part of the US Treasury Department’s broader efforts to impose restrictions on several countries. However, the spokesperson for the Taliban group responded to these actions by stating that pressuring and sanctioning its members would not lead to any resolution. The group considers these measures unjustifiable and disagrees with the United States’ approach.
Mohammad Khaled Hanafi and Fariduddin Mahmood, who are closely associated with Mullah Hebatullah Akhundzada, are notable leaders within the Taliban group. Their extremist beliefs have led them to oppose the reopening of girls’ schools.
Furthermore, it is important to highlight that the Taliban group has been responsible for numerous human rights violations, particularly concerning the rights of women and girls, since they gained control of the country. These actions have garnered significant attention and condemnation from international and global legal institutions. Despite this, the group has shown no willingness to adapt or change its stance.
