The primary objective of this pioneering initiative, as communicated on Wednesday, November 28th, through a Facebook post by the Afghanistan branch of UNHCR, is to offer employment opportunities for the residents of Khost, particularly those who have repatriated from neighboring countries. While specific participant statistics remain undisclosed, this marks the second implementation of the mobile repair training program by the United Nations in Khost province within the past few months. The initial phase of this educational program witnessed the graduation of 75 individuals.
It is crucial to acknowledge that the nation’s unemployment and poverty rates have experienced a substantial surge since the Taliban assumed control, prompting numerous young individuals to seek refuge in neighboring countries like Iran and Pakistan. Presently, Afghanistani immigrants residing in these adjacent nations, including Pakistan and Iran, encounter the imminent threat of involuntary deportation.
