RASC News Agency: Local sources in Samangan province have reported that the Taliban has recently issued a verbal directive, prohibiting photography and filming in wedding gatherings. This announcement was made on November 18th by Mawlawi Habibullah Hamas, the head of the Department of Propagation of Virtue and the Prevention of Vice of the Taliban group in Samangan Province, during a meeting with the owners of wedding venues. The order, under the guidance of Mohammad Khaled Hanafi, Acting Minister of Propagation of Virtue and the Prevention of Vice, also restricts women from taking part in photography and filming activities during weddings.

During the meeting, Hamas emphasized that nobody has the right to engage in music, dancing, or foot-tapping within wedding circles. The owners of wedding venues were warned that failure to comply with this order would have consequences. Similar restrictions on photography and filming in wedding gatherings have been imposed by the Taliban in Faryab and Jawzjan provinces.

With the Taliban’s increasing control over the country, citizens, particularly women and youth, have been subjected to a surge in restrictions that impact their lives. These limitations have significantly restricted their participation in society, as is evident from numerous orders issued by the Department of Propagation of Virtue and the Prevention of Vice. Moreover, reports indicate that the Taliban has already prohibited the playing of music in wedding gatherings in several provinces, resorting to acts of violence and making arrests to enforce their rules.
