RASC News Agency: In the aftermath of the Taliban’s apprehension of ex-military personnel in various provinces across the nation, reports have surfaced from Takhar indicating the arrest of a former military officer named Safiullah Anwari by the Taliban group in this particular province. According to reliable sources, Anwari was taken into custody by the Taliban on Saturday, November 11th, in the Rustaq district market of Takhar province.
These sources reveal that the detainee had previously served as a member of the special police forces during the republican regime. Furthermore, it has been reported that Anwari endured severe physical abuse during his arrest at the hands of the Taliban group. The sources further disclose that following the downfall of the republican regime, Mr. Anwari had transitioned into agricultural work and had no affiliation with any anti-Taliban factions. It is worth mentioning that the Taliban group has yet to issue a statement regarding the arrest of this former soldier.
This is despite the fact that media outlets continue to receive reports of the Taliban group’s detainment, torture, imprisonment, and even execution of former military personnel throughout the country. It is important to note that since assuming power in Afghanistan, the Taliban group has acted in direct contradiction to their leader’s claims of granting a general amnesty, persistently targeting and mistreating former soldiers on a daily basis.
The Taliban group has been repeatedly urged by national and international organizations, as well as foreign countries, to put an end to their severe restrictions and to stop torturing, apprehending, and killing Afghanistani citizens. Despite these calls for change, the group’s policies and repressions persist to this day.
