RASC News Agency: According to reports from Iranian media, an individual in the city of Shirvan, North Khorasan Province, was apprehended while purchasing 10,000 bread on a monthly basis.
Fars News Agency, quoting Mohammad Sadeq Reza Qoli Zadah, the director of agricultural jihad in Shirvan County, North Khorasan, Iran, reported that after inspecting the transactions of local bakeries by agricultural jihad inspectors, a person with a known identity was found to be buying 10,000 bread monthly from the city’s bakeries.
According to this Iranian official, after a thorough investigation and the formation of a legal case, the individual has been handed over to the Public Security Police of the county.
He stated, “Sometimes these profit-seeking individuals package and sell these bread in supermarkets, making a significant profit.” Mr. Qoli Zadah also considered the creation of long queues at city bakeries as a result of these violations.
Mr. Qoli Zadah further said, “This is an economic exploitation because the bread that is subsidized by the government to reach the people is used by profit-seeking individuals for livestock feed, making multiple profits.”
According to this recently published report, more than a year has passed since the implementation of the “Smart Distribution of Bread Subsidies” plan in Iran, which aims to achieve “fair distribution of subsidies” and prevent the smuggling of flour and bread.
Based on this report, about 5,000 hoarded breads were recently discovered in a house on the outskirts of the city of Bojonwurd, which were accumulated and dried and then supplied as animal feed to livestock owners.
In recent years, the increase in bread prices, which is one of the essential food items for Iranians, has posed challenges to vulnerable segments of society in terms of their livelihoods.
