RASC News Agency: Reports from the province of Badghis in western Afghanistan indicate that most of the teachers in Taliban-controlled schools in this province are imaginary.
An informed source in Badghis province, who declined to be named in the report, said in an exclusive interview with RASC news agency on Friday, November 10th, that 50 to 60 percent of the teachers in the schools of the towns and cities in this province are fictional, and these teachers receive their salaries remotely. According to the source, districts such as Qads, Ab Kamari, and Jawand are among the areas where teachers do not have physical presence but receive salaries from the Taliban.
According to the source’s information, the salaries of teachers in Badghis province range from 6,500 to 12,000 Kabuli rupees. The source stated that the Taliban group is primarily focused on converting government schools into religious schools in order to shape the mindset of youth and adolescents in line with their goals. The source declares, “The goals of the Taliban group are of a suicidal, explosive, and radical nature, and they aim to involve other segments of society to achieve their ideologies.”
In the meantime, some students of these schools in western provinces of Afghanistan told RASC news agency: “A while ago, a number of Taliban members entered boys’ schools and addressed the students, saying that they should pay more attention to Islamic and religious teachings, as the curriculum of these schools contains more atheistic, inhumane, and non-Islamic aspects.”
Firoz Ahmad, a student in one of the schools in a western province of Afghanistan, said that “the Taliban’s propaganda is mostly aimed at recruiting and attracting young people who can align their evil goals with this spectrum of society.”
He added that some students, influenced by this propaganda, have switched from regular schools to Taliban group schools, while others have abandoned their education altogether. Meanwhile, Mohammad Naseri, an informed official in western Afghanistan, says, “The Taliban group plays a significant role in all key government institutions, and a limited number of former employees are performing their duties under Taliban control.”
He added that religious scholars have replaced former teachers, which has to some extent dealt a major blow to students in these schools. According to him, Badghis province is considered one of the third-tier provinces in Afghanistan, with fewer facilities compared to Kabul, Herat, Mazar-e-Sharif, and others, and this has led to an extreme gap in terms of embracing modern technology.
It is worth mentioning that the Taliban authorities in Badghis province have not commented on these statements.
