RASC News Agency: Pakistan’s stance towards the Taliban group has recently shifted, as reported by Pakistani media. According to The Express Tribune newspaper, Pakistan no longer intends to defend the Taliban group in international forums and is no longer willing to provide concessions to them. This marks a significant deviation from Pakistan’s previous policy of supporting and defending the group.
The Pakistani government has stated that the Taliban group has exhibited a preference for the Pakistani Taliban over the government of Pakistan. Consequently, Pakistan has decided to withdraw its support for the group. This change in policy could potentially diminish the chances of the Taliban group gaining recognition from Pakistan. Despite the strained relationship between the two countries, Pakistan has been one of the most significant supporters of the Taliban group.
Recent exchanges between officials from Pakistan and the Taliban group have given rise to criticism. Anwaar ul Haq Kakar, the interim prime minister of Pakistan, has claimed that terrorist incidents in the country have increased by 60% since the Taliban group came to power in Afghanistan.
In response, Zabihullah Mujahid, the spokesman of the Taliban group, argued that Afghanistan and the Taliban group are not responsible for ensuring security within Pakistan. Furthermore, the Pakistani government has forcefully expelled over 200,000 Afghanistani immigrants, sending them back to Afghanistan.
All in all, Pakistan’s change in policy towards the Taliban group represents a significant development in the region. It remains to be seen how this shift will impact the relationship between the two countries and the future trajectory of the Taliban group.
