RASC News Agency: The Ministry of Labor and Social Affairs of the Taliban group in Balkh province has announced that the Turkish Cooperation and Coordination Agency “TIKA” will provide sewing and needlework training for women in the province. The head of the TIKA office, Mikael Tash Demir, has confirmed that a small workshop has been established to support Afghanistani girls and women who have been deprived of education and work opportunities. The program aims to train 20 young females in sewing and needlework over a six-month period, with the help of two teachers.
On November 6th, 14 sewing machines and six needlework machines were provided to the 20 women in Balkh province. This initiative is noteworthy because the Taliban group has prohibited Afghanistani girls and women from receiving education, pursuing studies, and working in government offices and international institutions. The group has also imposed strict limitations on their social lives through various orders. In fact, the Taliban group has closed down a women’s sewing workshop in Ghazni province as part of their restrictive measures.
Despite the restrictions imposed by the Taliban group on the lives of Afghanistani women and girls, a number of women have started protests in different provinces of the country. However, they have consistently faced violent behavior from this group each time. It is hoped that initiatives like the sewing and needlework training program will help empower women and provide them with opportunities to improve their lives.
