RASC News Agency: The Taliban’s Minister of Refugees recently convened with the Qatari ambassador in Afghanistan to deliberate on the plight and requirements of refugees expelled from Pakistan and repatriated to Afghanistan. According to a communique issued on December 11th by the Taliban’s Ministry of Refugees, Khalil Rahman Haqqani engaged in discussions with Saeed bin Mubarak Al-Khayareen, Qatar’s ambassador in Kabul. Throughout the meeting, they delved into the adversities confronting migrants deported from Pakistan, with a particular emphasis on the heightened difficulties anticipated during the winter season.
The newsletter further underscored that the Qatari ambassador reassured the Taliban of his country’s commitment to aiding refugees deported from Pakistan. Qatar’s pledge unfolds against a backdrop where a considerable number of Afghanistani citizens have sought sanctuary in neighboring nations such as Iran and Pakistan, compelled by a myriad of concerns including apprehensions about the Taliban and economic hardships. In recent months, both Iran and Pakistan have repatriated hundreds of thousands of Afghanistani migrants, with Pakistan alone returning over 450,000 individuals to Afghanistan.
Crucially, international organizations have consistently voiced apprehensions regarding the predicament confronting deported migrants in Afghanistan under Taliban governance. While the Taliban group has implored international aid organizations and the public to extend assistance to these individuals, reports indicate that Afghanistan, under Taliban rule, grapples with insufficient capacity and resources to effectively address the needs and challenges of these immigrants.
