RASC News Agency: According to local sources from Herat province, the Taliban group has appointed a person who was previously accused of corruption as the academic vice-president of the University of this Province.

Sources told the media on Wednesday, September 26, that the former chancellor of Herat University, who was fired from his position on charges of administrative corruption by the Taliban group, has been appointed twice as the academic vice-president of the university in this province.

According to the sources, the Taliban group removed Abdul Aziz Nomani, the former chancellor of Herat University, from this position nearly a month ago on charges of administrative corruption.

The sources added that during the period when he worked as the chancellor of Herat University, he refrained from shortlisting people with master’s degrees and instead shortlisted those close to him with bachelor’s degrees using tricks and appointed them to positions.

Sources add that Nomani also has a history of being a member of Islamic political party (Hizb-e-Islami) and with his work team he has hired members of the party and their region as employees and professors at Herat University.

It should be mentioned that not long ago, Abul Hekmat Mufti Abdul Ghafar, the ideological teacher of Taliban suicide fighters, was appointed as the chancellor of the university of this province.

Meanwhile, Herat University in the west of Afghanistan is considered one of the largest scientific places in the country, but after the re-establishment of the Taliban group and the imposition of restrictions by this group, many professors of this university left their jobs and left the country.
