RASC News Agency: Tom West, the special representative of the United States of America for Afghanistan affairs, announced that during a meeting with Martin Griffiths, the deputy of the United Nations, they discussed the humanitarian situation in Afghanistan.
West wrote on X social media that the meeting took place on Wednesday, September 20, and he emphasized that the United States of America is still the largest humanitarian donor to take care of the needy in Afghanistan.
The special representative of the United States of America, in the affairs of Afghanistan, has also thanked the implementation partners of the humanitarian aid program in accordance with international principles.
Tom West has stated this while the head of the World Food Program (WFP)’s Afghanistan department has announced that he will be forced to leave Afghanistan if the funds needed by this organization are not provided to take care of the needy in Afghanistan.
This organization said that the humanitarian situation in Afghanistan is disappointing and it does not have the necessary budget to meet the needs of 10 million Afghanistani people who live below the poverty line.
This organization added that nearly 23 million Afghanistani people are experiencing extreme hunger in this country after the Taliban took over Afghanistan.
At the same time, a number of other international organizations have repeatedly warned of the increase in the needy in Afghanistan under the control of the Taliban group and the reduction of the budget to deal with them.
This is despite the fact that with the dominance of the Taliban group and the imposition of restrictions on the work of women in internal and external institutions, the existing situation in Afghanistan has intensified.
