RASC News Agency: On the eve of the United Nations Security Council meeting on Afghanistan, Roza Otenbayeva, the UN Secretary General’s Special Envoy for Afghanistan and the head of UNAMA met with Amir Khan Motaqi, the foreign minister of the Taliban group.

On Monday evening, September 18, UNAMA announced that this meeting is part of “broad consultations” for next week’s meeting of the United Nations Security Council on Afghanistan.

The political representative of the United Nations has said: “UNAMA is committed to constructive engagement and ensuring that the voices of all Afghanistani citizens are heard.”

UNAMA has not provided more details about this meeting.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Taliban group has not yet published the news of this meeting.

Otenbayeva is supposed to present her new report on the situation in Afghanistan at the meeting of the United Nations Security Council next week.

This meeting was held while today two years have passed since the ban on girls’ education by the Taliban group.

The Taliban group has been widely accused of violating human rights in the past two years, and no country has recognized this group until now.

Previously, in a report, UNAMA recorded 800 cases of human rights violations by the Taliban group against the military and officials of the previous government of Afghanistan. The United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights called the UNAMA report about human rights violations in Afghanistan “shocking” and said that the Taliban group “betrayed” the trust of Afghanistani citizens and continued to violate human rights.
