RASC News Agency: A group of women who live in the houses built on government land in the “Ghond 11” area of Herat city, say that the Taliban group has decided to forcibly evict them from their homes.
These women protested in front of the office of the governor of the Taliban group for Herat province on Wednesday, August 9.
These protesting women say that they have built a house on government lands in the “Ghond 11” area at their own expense and have been living in these houses for years. Now they are going to be moved.
The protestors consider their forced migration as “cruelty and injustice” and chanted the slogans “Enough of oppression” and “Justice, justice“.
They have demanded to preserve their houses or to be provided with a place to live before being forced to move from this area.
Nisar Ahmad Elias, the spokesperson of the governor of the Taliban group in Herat, says that the claim of forced migration of the residents of “Ghond 11” is not true and the commission to prevent the usurpation of government lands is working on all cases.
The number of houses built on government land in this area of Herat city is not clear.
It is said that relatives of soldiers and former government employees also live in these houses.
In some provinces, the Taliban group has already moved the employees and soldiers of the previous government from the houses and government lands and transferred their own members.
Since returning to power, the Taliban group has attempted to forcibly evacuate citizens from government places and lands several times and under various pretexts and these actions of the Taliban group are taking place while the living conditions of many families in Afghanistan are deteriorating and these families are unable to rent. Alternatively, they do not have to buy another house.
