RASC: At the same time as the International Day against Human Trafficking, Antonio Guterres, the Secretary General of the United Nations, has stated that this practice is in conflict with basic human rights and freedoms.
In a tweet on Sunday, July 30, Guterres called on the countries of the world to take decisive measures to end the buying and selling of human beings.
He said: “As we celebrate the day to end human trafficking, we must commit to creating a world where no one can be bought, sold or exploited.”
The official statistics of the trafficked people who have been trafficked in the world have not yet been accurately determined, but last year, Ghada Wali, the head of the United Nations Office on Narcotics and Crime, said that in the last 15 years, 60% of the victims of trafficking were women.
This UN official said at that time that people’s fear of the effects of conflict and tension all over the world makes human traffickers take advantage of this opportunity.
Meanwhile, in the video he published on this occasion, he said that millions of victims of human trafficking are not being paid attention to. He added that human trafficking is a crime that hides not only in the shadows but also in very visible places.
The executive director of the United Nations Office on Narcotics and Crime has called for increased measures to deal with all victims of human trafficking and end it. The world celebrated the fight against human trafficking.
The Secretary General of the United Nations emphasizes the end of human trafficking in the world, while war, drought and environmental factors caused most of the citizens of countries with weak economies to fall prey to human traffickers.
