RASC: Russian President Vladimir Putin said at the virtual meeting of the leaders of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization hosted by India yesterday that Afghanistan should still be the center of attention of this organization and respond to all kinds of threats.
Vladimir Putin said, “Traditionally, the situation in Afghanistan is the focus of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization’s attention, a situation that unfortunately remains tense.”
According to the President of Russia, the fight against terrorism, fighting extremism and religious radicalism, suppression of drug trafficking and other types of trafficking, and the fight against bandit organizations should remain the priority of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization.
Putin added that terrorism has become a serious threat to the security of the region and the world, and this organization should strengthen its efforts to fight terrorism and extremism.
The President of Russia stated: “I am interested in the proposal of Russia to turn the regional anti-terrorist organization of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization into a multifunctional center that responds to a wide range of security threats.”
He also asked this organization to restore stability to Afghanistan, to prevent it from becoming a safe haven for terrorists.
It should be noted that the summit of the Shanghai Organization was held virtually yesterday with the presence of the leaders of Russia, Iran, China, Pakistan and Central Asian countries.
The meeting started with the speech of the Prime Minister of India and the leaders of the member countries gave speeches in this meeting.
