RASC: Indian Foreign Minister Subranyam Jaishankar said in his recent statements that India has closely monitored the situation in Afghanistan and intends to keep its embassy in Kabul open, but has not yet decided to send its ambassador to Afghanistan.
Jaishankar, in his speech on Wednesday, June 28, at the India International Center, said that his country is currently aware of the situation in Afghanistan and added that it takes time to judge the recent developments in Afghanistan.
He said: “Currently in Afghanistan, we have what we had. “We decided to keep the embassy, but so far it is not at the level of an ambassador.”
The Minister of Foreign Affairs of India went on to add that after the Taliban regained control of the country, a number of countries sent their ambassadors to Afghanistan again, but India paid more attention to providing humanitarian aid to positively affect the lives of the Afghanistani people.
It should be mentioned that after the Taliban group came to power in Afghanistan in August 2021, India closed its embassy and consulates in Afghanistan and expelled its diplomats due to security concerns.
In July last year, India officially confirmed that it had resumed its diplomatic presence in Afghanistan by sending a “technical team” to its embassy in Kabul.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of India said at that time that the purpose of this team is to monitor the provision of humanitarian aid and interact with the people of Afghanistan.
