Afghanistan Freedom Front Reports Killing of Two Taliban Members in Kabul Attack

RASC News Agency: The Afghanistan Freedom Front, one of the armed groups opposing Taliban rule, announced on Sunday, January 25, that it carried out an attack on a Taliban checkpoint in Kabul earlier that evening.

According to the group’s statement, the attack took place near Pul-e-Shina in Kabul’s District 12, resulting in the killing of two Taliban members and injuring two others.

The Afghanistan Freedom Front also claimed that none of its fighters were harmed during the operation and said it had released a video allegedly showing the attack.

So far, the Taliban have not issued any official response regarding this incident or similar operations claimed by opposition groups, including the National Resistance Front of Afghanistan. This media silence comes as United Nations reports indicate a recent increase in attacks targeting Taliban security forces in Kabul and other provinces, with several anti-Taliban groups repeatedly claiming responsibility.

The Afghanistan Freedom Front and groups such as the National Resistance Front are largely composed of former security personnel and political opponents of the Taliban and operate through guerrilla-style tactics against the regime. Independent verification of casualty figures or the full accuracy of such claims remains limited, as field investigations and fact-checking are difficult in many parts of Afghanistan due to access restrictions and security conditions.
