RASC: The Indian Navy has discovered a large shipment of narcotics containing methamphetamine from the southern waters of this country, which is claimed to have originated in Afghanistan.
Economic Times has reported that this shipment of 2,500 grams worth INR 12,000 crores was seized on the coast of Kerala on Saturday, May 13
The Indian Navy has arrested a Pakistani citizen in connection with the smuggling of this cargo, which is said to have been destined for India.
According to this media, the confiscated shipment is the third largest shipment of narcotics in the last one and a half years, which is smuggled from Afghanistan to India, Sri Lanka and Maldives.
The Indian Navy has said that during similar operations through the southern waters of this country, they have so far seized about 3,200 kilograms of methamphetamine, 500 kilograms of heroin and 529 kilograms of hashish.
This is despite the fact that India has repeatedly expressed concern about the increase in narcotics smuggling from Afghanistan after the rule of the Taliban group.
New Delhi’s latest concern in this regard raised in the meeting of the Council of Foreign Ministers of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization.
Methamphetamine, a highly addictive substance that affects the central nervous system and been used in the preparation of other intoxicating substances.
