RASC News Agency: In a startling revelation, Sara Adams, a former officer of the U.S. Central Intelligence Agency (CIA), alleged that the Taliban orchestrated a staged operation against one of their own intelligence headquarters in Kabul on Monday night. According to Adams, this was a deliberate ploy aimed at deceiving public opinion and currying favor with the United States. In a detailed post on the social media platform X, Adams disclosed that the building the Taliban claimed was attacked was actually controlled by a Taliban intelligence unit known as “Zulfiqar.” Far from being a target of hostile action, this facility reportedly served as a key hub for the Taliban’s communications with senior leaders of the Islamic State Khorasan Province (ISIS-K).
“We had prior knowledge of this location,” Adams wrote, “having gathered intelligence there during our investigation into the deadly explosion at Kabul airport’s gate.” The former CIA operative further accused the Taliban of exploiting such staged incidents to project a false image of fighting ISIS-K to Western audiences, while covertly maintaining operational ties with the extremist group. According to Adams, these theatrics allow the Taliban to secure anti-terrorism funding and financial support from the United States and other Western agencies.
Adams also claimed that Taliban officials have repeatedly held meetings with senior ISIS-K figures inside the very building they now claim was targeted in the so-called “attack,” deliberately feeding disinformation to Western intelligence services. Meanwhile, local sources reported intense fighting on Monday night in Kabul’s 15th district. Videos circulating from the scene show heavy explosions and sustained gunfire, with clashes lasting several hours. Taliban-affiliated media outlet Al-Marsad indirectly confirmed the event, describing it as an “operation against an ISIS hideout” in the Qasabah area near Kabul airport. However, official Taliban authorities have yet to provide any detailed statements or clarifications.
These allegations come amid persistent concerns within Western intelligence communities about the Taliban’s clandestine cooperation with extremist groups. Such ties threaten regional security and undermine global efforts to combat terrorism, highlighting the duplicitous nature of the Taliban regime that publicly claims to fight terrorism while covertly enabling it for political and financial gain.
