RASC News Agency: Since the Taliban’s takeover of Afghanistan and their subsequent seizure of Panjshir, approximately 250 fighters of the National Resistance Front (NRF) have been killed in Panjshir province alone.:Since August 2021, when intense clashes erupted in Panjshir, more than 250 NRF members have lost their lives in the province, while numerous others have been killed or wounded in battles across other regions. According to the book “Martyrs of the Second Resistance Panjshir,” published by the Cultural Department of the Ahmad Shah Massoud Foundation, the recorded NRF casualties in Panjshir are specific and well-documented.
The book states that the fallen include senior commanders, key members, and activists of the NRF, many of whom have died in direct combat, targeted assassinations, or under torture in Taliban prisons. Hafiz Mansour, a political activist and NRF member, wrote in the book’s introduction:
“This concise compilation serves as a testament to the noble martyrs who, in the Second Resistance, gave their lives in the heroic province of Panjshir in the pursuit of freedom and justice.”vMansour clarified that this volume exclusively documents NRF casualties in Panjshir, writing:
“Undoubtedly, the pure blood of these devoted warriors will shape the destiny of our homeland, and their sacrifices will never be forgotten.”
The book also provides detailed records of the names, identities, and locations of the fallen NRF fighters. In the introduction, Mansour further noted that future editions will include the names of NRF members who have perished in Andarab, Takhar, and other provinces in their battles against the Taliban. Recently, the NRF announced that over the past three years, they have killed more than 500 Taliban fighters and wounded hundreds more. The National Resistance Front remains one of the most formidable anti-Taliban military forces, founded under the leadership of Ahmad Massoud following the Taliban’s return to power in Afghanistan.
