RASC News Agency: Some former American military personnel in Afghanistan, during a congressional Foreign Relations Committee roundtable, expressed concerns about the plight of their remaining colleagues in Afghanistan following the country’s withdrawal, asserting that former security forces and their families are being pursued by the Taliban.
Michael Seesmar, a former US Navy officer, remarked at the session, which commenced on Wednesday, Jan 31, highlighting that considering the economic situation, if the Taliban don’t imprison or kill them, unemployment and hunger will take their toll. The former US Navy officer added that Afghanistani veterans served alongside American forces for their country, but now they have been abandoned.
He recalled the execution of a female officer in front of her husband, the beheading of a 12-year-old child in Panjshir, and the hanging of two former National Security members, despite having Taliban amnesty letters. Similarly, Elizabeth Len, a former American military member, told Congress that former Afghanistani soldiers are under the Taliban’s ruthless pursuit. The former US Navy member in Afghanistan added: “Our allies pay the price of their cooperation with us with their own blood.”
According to Len, over 800 cases of massacres, torture, and detentions of former security forces have been documented among their colleagues. These statements and concerns arise as the Taliban have consistently claimed to uphold amnesty orders and refrain from seeking revenge against anyone.
