RASC News Agency: A group of Afghanistani migrants attempting to cross into Iran has reportedly come under fire from Iranian border guards. Sources indicate that the incident resulted in more than 15 casualties, including both fatalities and injuries. Relatives of one of the deceased migrants stated that Iranian border forces indiscriminately opened fire on a group of Afghanistani nationals attempting to cross the Nimroz border. As a result, more than 15 migrants were killed, while two others sustained injuries. Family members of the victims, originating from Jabul al-Siraj district, confirmed that those targeted were from the provinces of Parwan, Panjshir, and Badakhshan. According to their accounts, the migrants were traveling in a vehicle that was ambushed by Iranian border guards three days ago. Meanwhile, a separate source disclosed that the migrants had been accompanied by a local guide and were attempting to enter Iran through unauthorized channels.
Reports suggest that both the injured and the bodies of the deceased have been transferred to the Nimroz Central Hospital. One of the critically wounded individuals later succumbed to his injuries, while another remains in critical condition. The deceased individual who passed away at the hospital has been identified as Hedayatullah, a resident of Manara village, Jabul al-Siraj district, Parwan province. Eyewitnesses claim the shooting was abrupt and unprovoked. Over the past three years, numerous reports have surfaced detailing violent encounters between Afghanistani migrants and border forces in both Iran and Pakistan. However, Iranian authorities have consistently denied these allegations.
As of now, neither the Taliban administration nor Iranian border officials have issued a statement regarding the latest incident.
