RASC News Agency: Sources have disclosed that Mawlawi Hibatullah Akhundzada, the supreme leader of the Taliban, recently held covert meetings in Kandahar with the heads of several terrorist organizations, including Noor Wali Mehsud, the leader of Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP), and senior commanders of Jaish al-Adl. Reports indicate that over ten terrorist groups currently operate in Afghanistan under Taliban patronage, with many foreign militant leaders enjoying sanctuary and logistical support within the country. According to insider sources, Akhundzada’s secret meeting with TTP and Jaish al-Adl leaders took place in Kandahar, the Taliban’s stronghold.
A leaked classified document obtained by the media confirms that on February 19, Akhundzada met Noor Wali Mehsud in Kandahar. The following day, he reportedly held another high-level discussion with two senior commanders of Jaish al-Adl. The document further reveals that after these meetings, Akhundzada instructed Taliban security and military institutions to provide full-scale support to both TTP and Jaish al-Adl. These developments are likely to heighten regional tensions, particularly with Pakistan and Iran, and could further destabilize the already volatile geopolitical landscape.
This is not the first time Akhundzada has been accused of secretly engaging with militant factions. The Taliban have long been implicated in fostering ties with extremist networks, providing them with safe havens and strategic assistance. Pakistan, in particular, has repeatedly accused the Taliban of backing TTP militants, who have conducted cross-border attacks. Meanwhile, retaliatory strikes by the Pakistani military against TTP hideouts have resulted in the deaths of several children of senior Taliban officials, further straining diplomatic ties between Islamabad and Kabul.
