RASC News Agency: According to the report by the Iran-Afghanistan Joint Chamber of Commerce, under the Taliban’s control, Iran’s imports from Afghanistan amounted to $42,623,885 last year. ILNA reported that these imports include various types of camels and their breeds, refined lead, beef cattle, shelled peanuts, sesame seeds, unground and unwashed pepper, manganese ore and its concentrate, as well as raw gold, representing the primary commodities coming from Afghanistan to Iran.
However, the Vice President of the Iran-Afghanistan Chamber of Commerce mentioned regarding Iran’s exports to Afghanistan that although Iran’s exports to Afghanistan increased in 2023 compared to 2022, truck traffic from the Milak border is still slow, challenging, and costly. He also referred to a 20 percent growth in Iran’s exports to Afghanistan. According to statistics released by the Iran-Afghanistan Joint Chamber of Commerce, the value of these exports is estimated at $1,647,193,644.
Iran’s economic advisor in Afghanistan stated that the value of Iran’s non-oil exports to Afghanistan reached $1,871,000,000 in 2023. Hossein Roostaei added that trade between Iran and Afghanistan increased by 13.6 percent compared to the previous year.
Referring to the quality and increase in Iranian export items to Afghanistan, he said that last year, a thousand new types of goods were added to the export items to Afghanistan. According to this report, Mr. Roostaei said that oil products, petroleum gases, iron and steel ingots, natural gas, light and heavy hydrocarbons, iron, steel, foodstuffs, vegetables, and cement have been Iran’s most important export items to Afghanistan.
He said Iran is striving to increase trade to over $3 billion this year.
