RASC News Agency: The head of the political committee of the Afghanistan Freedom Front has accused the Taliban of systematically detaining, torturing, and threatening numerous individuals under the pretext of collaboration with the National Resistance Front (NRF) and the Afghanistan Freedom Front. Speaking at the fifth round of the Vienna Conference on a Democratic Afghanistan, Daoud Naji condemned the Taliban as the “epicenter of tyranny and malevolence,” asserting that their actions flagrantly violate both legal frameworks and religious principles.
During the conference attended by Ahmad Massoud, leader of the NRF, and Yasin Zia, head of the Afghanistan Freedom Front Naji criticized the Taliban for arbitrarily arresting and torturing individuals without presenting substantive evidence, solely based on allegations of affiliation with resistance factions. He denounced these actions as a grave injustice, underscoring the Taliban’s blatant disregard for legal, ethical, and humanitarian norms. Naji further highlighted that many detainees have been imprisoned merely because of their geographic origin, while others remain in captivity due to their prior service in Afghanistan’s former security forces. His remarks strongly alluded to Panjshir province, a region that has borne the brunt of Taliban oppression. Over the past three years, the Taliban have reportedly detained and tortured hundreds of Panjshir residents on allegations of supporting the resistance.
Reiterating his stance, Naji declared, “Despite the Taliban’s public proclamation of a general amnesty, targeted assassinations of former security personnel and other civilians continue unabated. In 99% of cases, accusations of military resistance affiliation serve merely as a pretext for arbitrary arrests and brutal interrogations.” The Vienna conference convened multiple anti-Taliban factions, with both NRF leader Ahmad Massoud and Freedom Front chief Yasin Zia participating and openly condemning the Taliban’s oppressive rule.
