RASC News Agency: Hibatullah Akhundzada, the reclusive leader of the Taliban, has reportedly gifted a fleet of brand-new vehicles to his closest commanders, further underscoring the group’s unchecked extravagance amid the worsening economic crisis gripping Afghanistan. On Monday, February 3, sources confirmed that Akhundzada distributed nearly 50 newly imported vehicles among his top-ranking commanders and loyalists. Reports indicate that these vehicles were purchased from Dubai and discreetly transported to Afghanistan, with the majority being Toyota Hilux models, a staple of Taliban convoys. The Taliban leadership has yet to comment on the matter.
This revelation comes as millions of Afghanistani citizens struggle under a regime that has systematically deepened poverty, fueled mass unemployment, and driven desperate populations toward Iran, Pakistan, and Turkey in search of refuge. While ordinary citizens face economic devastation, Taliban leaders indulge in opulence, contradicting their own rhetoric of so-called ‘Islamic justice.’ Despite their purported commitment to ascetic governance, the Taliban’s leadership continues to amass personal wealth funded by millions in financial support from the United States, Western nations, and various intelligence agencies across Asia and beyond. Yet, ordinary Afghanistani citizens are admonished to seek sustenance from divine providence while their rulers enjoy the spoils of power.
Since seizing control of Afghanistan, the Taliban has orchestrated a sweeping purge of government and non-governmental institutions, replacing experienced professionals with madrassa-trained clerics and militant loyalists. Meanwhile, the regime has intensified financial, political, and cultural oppression to silence dissent, ensuring that no one dares challenge its entrenched system of ethnic, religious, and ideological dominance.
