RASC News Agency: Local sources in Kapisa province report that a resident died under severe torture inflicted by the Taliban. The victim, identified as Golestan, was reportedly arrested by the Taliban approximately three years ago after his brother was accused of kidnapping. According to the sources, Golestan’s family recently uncovered his body in an unmarked grave near the provincial capital, where the Taliban had secretly buried him.
Golestan, a native of the village of Dornama in Kohband district, Kapisa province, had been held in custody without due process. As is common in such cases, the Taliban have refrained from issuing any statement regarding the incident. Since the Taliban’s return to power, countless military personnel and civilians across Afghanistan have allegedly died under torture by the group. In a similar incident on July 18 this year, a middle-aged man in Kapisa reportedly succumbed to torture inflicted by Taliban-affiliated Kuchi tribesmen. Numerous reports from media outlets and national and international organizations highlight a troubling pattern of arrests and extrajudicial killings, particularly targeting Tajiks and residents of northern and northeastern provinces.
The Taliban, often accused of carrying out ethnically motivated policies, have sought to justify these acts under the pretense of enforcing Islamic law. However, their actions have been widely condemned by prominent Islamic scholars and international human rights organizations. Critics have urged the group to stop exploiting Islam as a tool to further their tribal and ethnic agendas. Despite these widespread condemnations, the Taliban have shown little inclination to amend their behavior or address the allegations of systemic abuse.
