Teenager Commits Suicide in Jaghori, Ghazni

RASC News Agency: Reports from Ghazni province reveal that a 15-year-old boy has taken his own life in the Jaghori district. According to local sources, the teenager, identified as Sajjad Alizadah, died by suicide on Thursday, November 7, in the Dawood area of Jaghori district. Sajjad was reportedly a student at Faiz Mohammad Kateb High School in Jaghori.

The motives behind Sajjad’s death remain unclear. Thus far, local Taliban officials in Ghazni have refrained from commenting on the incident. This case is part of a troubling trend. In recent weeks, two women in Faryab province reportedly took their own lives following instances of domestic violence. Shortly afterward, a young man in the same region also committed suicide, reportedly driven by poverty and unemployment.

In Herat, a source from the state hospital disclosed that 37 suicide attempts were recorded within the past month alone. Of these, two individuals did not survive, while the remaining cases continue to receive treatment. Across Afghanistan, recent months have seen an alarming rise in suicides. Human rights organizations have voiced grave concern, warning that rampant poverty and unemployment are major factors contributing to this rapid increase. According to these organizations, Afghanistani citizens, weighed down by extreme poverty and lack of opportunity, are increasingly pushed to the brink.

Since the Taliban regained control of Afghanistan, suicide rates have surged nationwide, with despair over the future, mental health struggles, severe economic hardship, and unemployment often cited as root causes.
