Iranian Commander: Employing Undocumented Afghanistani Migrants is a Crime

RASC News Agency: Ahmad Reza Radan, the Commander-in-Chief of Iran’s Law Enforcement Forces, has declared that offering employment to undocumented Afghanistani migrants is officially classified as a “crime.” In an interview with an Iranian media outlet, Radan stated that undocumented migrants will no longer be allowed to enter the country, rent homes, or seek work.

He further announced Iran’s plans to deport two million undocumented Afghanistani migrants within the year. According to Radan, 500,000 undocumented migrants have already been detained and expelled from the country. Additionally, over 250,000 Afghanistani migrants have voluntarily returned to their homeland. Radan emphasized that hiring undocumented Afghanistani migrants is illegal and urged business owners to report any such employment to the authorities.

This comes amid growing complaints from Afghanistani migrants in Iran, who report widespread mistreatment at the hands of Iranian law enforcement and citizens. They have voiced concerns about facing various forms of violence and have called on international organizations to intervene, ensuring their human rights and asylum claims are respected. These harsh measures are being imposed even as countries, including Iran, continue to support and lobby for the Taliban the very group responsible for displacing millions of Afghanistani citizens from their homeland.
