RASC News Agency: Local sources from Badakhshan province report that the Taliban have continued their campaign of targeting former military personnel, with the recent execution of a former police officer of the previous government in the province. Sources informed the media on Monday, August 12, that Taliban forces shot and killed the former soldier at his home in the center of Tishkan district, Badakhshan province, last night.
According to these sources, the former soldier, named Amanullah Sadeqi, was a native of Tishkan district in Badakhshan. Following the collapse of the previous government, he had turned to farming. As of now, the local Taliban authorities in Badakhshan have not commented on this incident. It is noteworthy that similar incidents have occurred in several other provinces.
Despite the Taliban leader’s declaration of a general amnesty, over the past three years, the group’s forces have continued to arrest, torture, and, in some cases, kill former government employees, particularly military personnel, under various pretexts. In the most recent case, just a few days ago, Taliban intelligence forces killed the son of a former soldier in Takhar province.
It is important to note that following the Taliban’s takeover, a significant number of former military personnel fled the country due to fear of retribution and economic hardship, seeking refuge in neighboring and regional countries. Reports indicate that the Taliban continue their acts of vengeance by arresting former soldiers who have been deported from neighboring countries and returned to Afghanistan.
