RASC News Agency: Shavkat Mirziyoyev, the president of Uzbekistan, recently emphasized the significance of Afghanistan in maintaining regional stability during the United Nations Special Program for the Economy of Central Asian Countries (SPECA) meeting. In his address, Mr. Mirziyoyev stressed that Afghanistan cannot be left to deal with its current challenges alone, and international efforts must involve cooperation with the Taliban, the dominant group in Afghanistan. He highlighted that Afghanistan is an integral part of Central Asia and plays a crucial role in regional stability, urging the world to support the country.
During the SPECA meeting held in Baku on November 24th, Afghanistan was notably absent, raising concerns about its representation. The president of Uzbekistan made these statements against the backdrop of the Taliban’s control over Afghanistan, which has posed significant challenges to the country’s human rights, economy, society, and politics. Additionally, the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) had previously expressed apprehension about the drug trafficking from Afghanistan, under the Taliban’s control, to Central Asia and the surrounding region.
It is important to note that after more than two years of Taliban rule, Afghanistan has witnessed a rise in unemployment, poverty, and migration among its citizens. The Taliban group has yet to effectively address the crises in the country and establish the necessary conditions for a prosperous and comfortable life for the Afghanistani people. The international community must recognize the urgency of the situation and work together to support Afghanistan in overcoming its challenges and achieving stability.
