RASC News Agency: An Iranian diplomat, welcoming the conference on reviewing Iran’s new government relations with the Taliban, stated that Tehran desires a stable neighbor. Rasoul Mousavi, addressing criticisms regarding Iran’s emphasis on forming an inclusive government in Afghanistan, clarified that an inclusive government is neither a coalition nor a participatory entity.
He mentioned that interpretations of an inclusive government have diverged, emphasizing that what Iran advocates for is not a participatory government. Rasoul Mousavi wrote on his X account that during a segment of the Taliban’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs conference, there was a general discussion about an inclusive government. He remarked that the “speaker at this conference lacks accurate information and analysis on the matter.”
Mousavi did not name the speaker, but the Taliban’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated that Jafar Mahdavi, a former Afghanistan parliament member and a figure close to the Taliban, asserted at the conference that the Islamic Republic should abandon the idea of establishing an inclusive government in Afghanistan. Mousavi contended that the Taliban representative had misunderstood the concept of an inclusive government, emphasizing that it is not a participatory one.
According to the Taliban’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Mahdavi claimed that forming an inclusive government in Afghanistan is “neither practical nor acceptable.” He added that the type of government is a domestic issue for Afghanistanis. In a post on his X account, Mahdavi stated that his remarks had been summarized by the Taliban’s Deputy Spokesperson and were not fully published.
Mahdavi expressed that creating a national Islamic government encompassing all ethnic groups in Afghanistan is inevitable. He added that the idea of an all-inclusive government proposed by foreign countries and the list of corrupt figures suggested by both the Taliban and the Afghanistani people are unacceptable. Rasoul Mousavi reiterated that an inclusive government is not a coalition or participatory entity nor a gathering of opposites.
He emphasized that a government is inclusive when it effectively engages and serves all members of society. He wrote, “If the formulation and implementation of laws are transparent, impartial, and accountable to all citizens, then that government is inclusive and accountable.” Meanwhile, the Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister added that an inclusive government is a national and internal issue for Afghanistan. He continued to say that Iran seeks a stable government in its neighboring country.
Mousavi, following a recent meeting with Abdul Kabir, a deputy of the Taliban administration, described managing relations with the Taliban as “the most difficult and complex type of political management in diplomatic relations.” He acknowledged that there are numerous “internal and external challenging factors” in both Iran and Afghanistan.
