RASC News Agency: According to a report by the Bakhtar News Agency, operated under Taliban control, 210 Afghanistani migrant families were forcibly and voluntarily deported from Iran and Pakistan on Friday, October 11. The report indicates that these migrants re-entered Afghanistan through border crossings in the provinces of Herat, Nimroz, Kandahar, and Nangarhar.
The Taliban-affiliated news agency detailed that 28 families returned via the Torkham crossing and 22 families through Spin Boldak. Meanwhile, 50 families crossed back into the country via the Pul-e Abrisham border in Nimroz, and 110 additional families entered through the Islam Qala border.
Since the Taliban’s takeover of Afghanistan, millions of Afghanistani citizens have fled the country, seeking refuge from systemic injustice, political and ethnic persecution, religious oppression, poverty, and unemployment. Those deported now face grim circumstances, as their forced return to Afghanistan places them at heightened risk of Taliban reprisals. Over the past years, the Taliban have detained and, in many cases, executed numerous Afghanistani migrants who were deported from neighboring countries.
While Iran and Pakistan initially appeared supportive of the Taliban’s rise to power, both countries have now resorted to mass deportations due to concerns over suicide attacks orchestrated by Taliban-linked operatives. Notably, some Taliban supporters within these nations have engaged in illegal protests and activities against their host countries. Last week, Pakistani authorities arrested over 100 Afghanistani migrants during a demonstration. These individuals reportedly aligned with Imran Khan’s political party due to ethnic affiliations.
