RASC News: Local sources in Maimana, the capital of Faryab province, report another case of targeted and mysterious killings, as a 17-year-old boy was recently murdered. Sources informed the media on Wednesday, July 31, that the victim, named Mirwais, was killed the previous night in the “Afghan Kot” area of Maimana.

According to these sources, Mirwais was the son of a local money changer and was fatally stabbed by two young men. The motives behind the murder remain unclear, and the suspects have managed to flee the scene. The Taliban has confirmed this incident. Recent reports indicate a significant increase in targeted and mysterious killings, with bodies being discovered in various parts of the country.

In a recent case, an unknown assailant fatally stabbed a young woman in Shirin Tagab district, Faryab province. Such cases often go uninvestigated by the Taliban. It is noteworthy that since the Taliban’s takeover, there has been a marked increase in criminal activities, including mysterious and targeted killings, armed robberies, and kidnappings across various provinces.

In many criminal cases, unidentified individuals are blamed, yet the Taliban often fail to pursue these matters, leading to a rise in such incidents. Many citizens believe that the Taliban have failed to ensure their security and have not succeeded in combating criminal activities throughout the country.
