RASC News Agency: Allahdad Fedai, the former police commander of Laghman province, alleges that the Taliban have forcibly taken over his private residence. According to Fedai, the militants stormed his home, assaulted his nephew and a friend, and subsequently detained them. Fedai asserts that the action was ordered by the Taliban’s head of intelligence. He claims that Qari Sajad, the urban intelligence chief for the Taliban in Laghman, led the raid on his residence on Friday, July 26. Fedai further alleges that his relatives were subjected to mistreatment and torture during this incursion.
The former commander reports that the Taliban have now occupied his home and plan to convert it into a security post. He emphasized that the property, located in the “Etifaya” area of central Laghman, is his personal asset. Fedai also highlighted the discrepancy between the Taliban’s public declarations of a general amnesty—which they claimed would safeguard lives and property—and the harsh realities faced by former security personnel, including torture and detention.
Fedai currently resides in Iran following the collapse of the previous Afghanistan government. He describes his situation there as akin to being imprisoned, expressing fear of arrest even for those with passports. Previously, Fedai served as the police chief in Maidan Wardak, Nimroz, Baghlan, and Laghman provinces under the former Afghanistan administration. His tenure as the police chief of Maidan Wardak was controversial; he was suspended and referred to the prosecutor’s office following an incident on January 30, 2021, in Behsud district, where security forces under his command allegedly fired on protesters, resulting in the deaths of 11 civilians.
