RASC News Agency: Local sources from Nangarhar reported on Sunday that Taliban forces clashed with ISIS in the Mohmand Dara district of Nangarhar. According to eyewitnesses, at least five Taliban members were injured in the skirmish. The Taliban, however, claim to have killed one ISIS member.
Residents say the conflict began when Taliban forces, deployed for an inspection, encountered ISIS fighters in a house in Mohmand Dara. Sources indicated that ISIS fighters initiated the clash by throwing a grenade at the Taliban, injuring at least five of them. The wounded were subsequently transported to a clinic in the Shinwar district.
Local witnesses added that the Taliban then intensified their assault on the house, with the fighting lasting approximately an hour. Eventually, the house was completely destroyed. According to local information, the Taliban have now surrounded the area, and sporadic gunfire can still be heard. Meanwhile, Al-Mursad, a Taliban-affiliated intelligence website, reported that a member of ISIS named Zakirullah, known as Abu Shir, was killed in the operation in Mohmand Dara, Nangarhar.
Al-Mursad noted that Abu Shir was the military commander of ISIS in the Achin district of Nangarhar. Al-Mursad, a Taliban-run site, primarily focuses on activities against ISIS, referring to them as “Khawarij.” According to the report, the operation targeting the ISIS hideout in Mohmand Dara has concluded. ISIS has not yet commented on the incident.
