RASC News Agency: Malala Yousafzai, the human rights activist and Nobel Peace Prize laureate, has condemned the systemic “gender apartheid” enforced by the Taliban in Afghanistan, highlighting the severe abuse and threats faced by women. On her X account, Yousafzai wrote: “The forced deportation of Afghanistani refugees and their suffering under the Taliban’s brutal oppression is dangerous and negatively impacts women and girls.”
The Nobel laureate emphasized the need to ensure that Afghanistani girls residing in Pakistan can attend school safely. She urged the Pakistani government to halt the “forced deportation” of refugees and, in doing so, protect Afghanistani women and girls from the Taliban. Meanwhile, a recent joint report by The Guardian and Rukhshana Media revealed that a women’s rights activist in a Taliban prison in Afghanistan was subjected to “gang rape.”
The report detailed that the Taliban recorded the assault and used the video to threaten the activist, warning her that if she spoke out, the footage would be released. Simultaneously, the Pakistani government is taking stringent measures against Afghanistani refugees, deporting hundreds daily. A senior Pakistani official recently stated that the sooner Afghanistani refugees are expelled, the better.
Both Pakistan and Iran are emphasizing the forced deportation of Afghanistani refugees. In recent months, Germany has also put the deportation of Afghanistani refugees on the agenda.
