RASC News Agency: Thomas West, the U.S. Special Representative for Afghanistan, recently announced that America’s allies are mobilizing urgent assistance, including provisions of food and water, for flood-stricken regions in Afghanistan. West conveyed these statements early Monday morning, on May 12th, through a post on his social media platform, underscoring the profound impact of devastating floods across various parts of Afghanistan on the United States.
Furthermore, Karen Decker, the U.S. Embassy’s Chargé d’Affaires for Afghanistan, affirmed, “The United States is orchestrating emergency aid efforts, procuring food supplies and medical resources through our partners, to support those affected.” The recent onslaught of remarkable floods in several provinces of the country, notably in Balkh province, has led to loss of lives and substantial financial hardships for local communities.
The latest statistics reveal that in merely two districts of Balkh province, more than 300 individuals have perished, with thousands sustaining injuries, and thousands of homes either partially or entirely demolished.
Multiple humanitarian organizations, including the Civil Protection Office, the European Union’s humanitarian aid mission, UNICEF, the International Organization for Migration, and the World Health Organization, are actively engaged in providing assistance to flood victims.
