Taliban Commander Killed in Sar-e-Pol

RASC News Agency: Taliban officials report that a commander of the group was killed in the Kohistanat district of Sar-e-Pol province. According to a press release from the Taliban’s Sar-e-Pol security command on Saturday, June 29, the commander was killed the previous day while traveling in the Kohistanat district.

The statement revealed that the commander, named Hassan Khan, was mistakenly shot by his own son. Prior to this incident, he had been summoned to the provincial capital. Local Taliban officials in Sar-e-Pol announced that an investigation into the commander’s death has commenced.

Sources from the province informed the media that the commander was a tribal elder and had a history of collaborating with the “National Movement Party” associated with Abdul Rashid Dostum. However, it remains unclear whether the commander was killed by his son or by other local Taliban members in Sar-e-Pol.

The incidents of Taliban commanders being killed by their family members are not new. About a month ago, a Taliban member in Faryab province was shot dead by his wife. It is also noteworthy that despite the Taliban’s declaration of a general amnesty after their takeover, individuals connected to the previous regime have still been arrested, tortured, or killed.
