Malala Yousafzai Urges UN to Revise Composition and Agenda of Doha Meeting

RASC News Agency: Malala Yousafzai, a renowned women’s rights activist and Nobel Peace Prize laureate, has called on the United Nations to revise the composition and agenda of the forthcoming third Doha meeting. In a message shared on the social media platform X on Thursday, June 27, Yousafzai revealed her conversation with UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres, voicing her concerns.

She criticized the exclusion of Afghanistani women from the Doha meeting and asserted that without the full participation and leadership of women in discussions about Afghanistan, no legitimacy could be established. Yousafzai expressed her solidarity with Afghanistani women, stating that ignoring half of the population in discussions about Afghanistan constitutes a “betrayal.” The third Doha meeting on Afghanistan is scheduled to take place in three days, and the exclusion of Afghanistani women has sparked widespread reactions.

The Taliban are expected to participate in the meeting with a delegation led by their spokesperson, Zabihullah Mujahid. During nearly three years of their rule, the Taliban have deprived women and girls of fundamental rights, actions that have provoked significant backlash.
